Sullivan Brown are recruiting on behalf of a successful Newcastle-based organisation for an experienced People Advisor specialising in Employee Relations to join their established People team on a 6 month fixed term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused HR professional who enjoys partnering with managers, managing complex ER matters, and driving management capability across the business.
The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement with 2 days per week in the office and 3 days working from home.
The Role
You will provide a professional, effective and legally compliant Employee Relations advisory service across a varied and fast-paced organisation. Working closely with managers and stakeholders, you will support the delivery of best practice HR solutions while helping to embed a positive and high-performing culture.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Provide professional and confidential HR advice, support and guidance across a range of employee relations matters
- Manage and advise on disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, performance management and related ER casework
- Support, develop and coach managers to independently manage employee relations cases effectively
- Ensure long-term absence cases are managed appropriately and in line with company policy
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with Trade Union representatives and consultative bodies
Caseload Monitoring & Analysis
- Capture, monitor and analyse trends in formal and informal ER caseloads across designated business areas
- Use ER data and insights to identify opportunities to improve management capability and employee engagement
- Proactively support continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation
Building Management Capability
- Support the organisation in embedding a strong performance management culture
- Advise managers on effective performance management approaches and interventions
- Design and deliver workshops and coaching sessions aimed at developing line management capability across the business
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have previous experience in a People Advisor or HR Advisor role with a strong Employee Relations focus
- Possess up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Be confident managing complex ER casework independently
- Have excellent stakeholder management and coaching skills
- Be comfortable analysing HR trends and using data to drive improvements
- Ideally hold CIPD qualification or be working towards it
